Overview
All the best pubs are dog friendly, and all the best dog walks feature a stop at a good pub. If you’re planning a dog walk in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, add The Gamekeeper’s Inn to your itinerary. A welcoming inn, there’s always a cosy corner for four-legged guests, although next to the fireplace is a prime snoozing spot if paws are weary.
If you’re not sure what to order, the homemade ‘pie of the moment’ served with triple cooked chips (or mashed potato), mushy peas and gravy, is always a winner. But you can’t go wrong with the Yorkshire sirloin steak and all the trimmings.
One thing’s for sure, you have to leave room for the brownie sharing platter: a double chocolate brownie and a white chocolate and raspberry blondie served with a rich chocolate sauce, salted caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream. It’s heavenly!
If you’d like to spend more time exploring the area, Long Ashes Park has dog friendly lodges that you can stay in with your pooch. That way, you get to enjoy the speciality food nights at The Gamekeeper’s Inn as well as more of the amazing scenery.

The Area
With rolling hills, wild uplands, meandering rivers and picturesque towns and villages, the Yorkshire Dales are rich in dog friendly days out and adventures. Tick off some local film locations by visiting two of the area’s most famous waterfalls. Hardraw Force and Aysgarth Falls were used for the 1991 film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Both sites welcome dogs and water-loving pups are guaranteed to have the time of their lives splashing around in the river.
