Located on the outskirts of Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye, at the foot of Macleod’s Tables and overlooking Loch Dunvegan, a stay at Osdale Farmhouse means that spectacular dog walks are guaranteed. This cosy retreat is surrounded by breathtaking Highland scenery and has incredible views in abundance.

For dogs...

Three dogs are invited to join you at Osdale Farmhouse for an additional fee of £10 per pooch per week.

On arrival, you’ll find a bed, bowls, towels and treats waiting for your pooch, as well as a tracking lead and a Mud Daddy dog wash.

Four-legged friends will adore the underfloor heating to warm their little paws … when they’re not snoozing next to the wood burner.

For humans...

Surrounded by breathtaking Highland scenery, this cosy farmhouse is the perfect spot for a restful and rejuvenating getaway.

Sit and admire the stunning views – there are binoculars for guests to borrow – or curl up by the stove with one of the many good books kept at the property.

Overview

Originally built in the mid 1800s for a Skye crofter, Osdale Farmhouse offers guests a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comforts. The semi open plan kitchen, dining area and living room forms the hub of the farmhouse. It’s such a welcoming space to spend time in, and four-legged friends will adore the underfloor heating to warm their little paws.

Skye has many amazing places to eat, but the Farmhouse’s country-style kitchen has everything you need to prepare something delicious should you wish to stock up on local produce and dine in. The dining table comfortably seats four and doubles up as the perfect place to play cards or board games of an evening.

However, if you’re looking for a space to put your feet up and truly switch off, the living area at Osdale Farmhouse couldn’t be more inviting. Think sofas and armchairs that you can sink in to and a flickering wood burner casting a comforting glow across the room. There’s a TV tucked in the corner – if you want to watch something with a local flavour, try one of these shows filmed on the Isle of Skye.

Upstairs, the farmhouse has two beautiful bedrooms, one king size and one twin. Sweet dreams are guaranteed on the cloud-like beds beneath the softest sheets. And tucked up in the eaves, the views from both rooms are special. The family bathroom is located downstairs. It doesn’t have a bath but the walk-in shower is luxuriously large.

You can access the garden from the main living space, but it’s best to take dogs through the boot room so you can grab coats, leads and poop bags on your way. If you want to relax and sip your morning coffee (or enjoy a sundowner in the evening) while your four-legged friend stretches their legs, there are outdoor chairs for you to sit on.

Although they are at opposite ends of the grounds, Osdale Farmhouse shares the same enclosed grounds as Osdale Byre. However, both cottages have their own private areas to the rear.

For The Dogs

Four-legged friends are well-catered for at Osdale Farmhouse. On arrival, you’ll find a bed, bowls, poop bags, towels and treats waiting for your pooch, as well as a tracking lead and a Mud Daddy dog wash.

While the farmhouse has a private back garden, the remainder of the outdoor space is shared with the Byre at the other end of the grounds. Both the private garden and shared space is fenced off from surrounding farmland providing a secure area for dogs to roam off-lead.

Special Instructions

Dogs are welcome throughout the farmhouse but not on the beds or in the showers. There is stock proof fencing around the grounds which determined dogs may be able to sneak through if persistent.

The Area

There are remarkable walks right from the door when staying at Osdale Cottages, and a walk up to nearby Macleod’s Tables is a must. Visible from the cottage, these two flat-topped hills proudly overlook the Duirinish Peninsula on Skye. A steep climb, the walk to the top is not for the Sunday stroller, but you’ll be rewarded with incredible views if you do tackle the ascent. Another favourite of Osdale Cottages’ owner, Lucy, and her pooch Ned, is the Dunvegan Two Churches Walk. It’s a 3 km walk through woodland and open moor with some lovely views in the later sections. There are off-lead opportunities too for dogs who like to stretch their legs a little more.
