Visit WebsiteCombining great coffee, amazing food and a fabulous opportunity for people watching (if you manage to grab one of the much coveted window seats), it’s no wonder that Jaunty Goat on Bridge Street is one of our favourite places to sip and dine in Chester.
Overview
We’re head over paws for the cool Scandinavian design at Jaunty Goat complemented by exposed Roman brickwork and beautiful greenery. And it’s thoroughly dog friendly too with water bowls and treats for accompanying four-legged friends.
The menu features a variety of vegetarian and vegan-friendly brunches including classics such as avocado toast, eggs and granola, combined with changing seasonal dishes featuring locally sourced produce. Not sure what to opt for? Try the popular vegan ‘bacon’ sandwich washed down with a macchiato. Don’t leave without trying one of the locally baked cakes … or taking a slice or two home with you. They’re divine!
If you want the same great coffee but an entirely plant-based menu, head to Jaunty Goat on Northgate Street. Decorated in the same minimalist style and filled with leafy plants, it’s a great place to rest and refuel on one of the four original streets that made up Roman Chester. Fill up on one of the delicious vegan takes on brunch classics while your pup enjoys a dog treat or two.
For The Dogs
Expect bowls of water, doggy treats and a huge fuss from the friendly staff.
Opening Hours

Parking
There are many paid car parks in Chester city centre but we recommend parking at Chester Racecourse and walking into the city via the very beautiful Watergate Street.
With its beautiful architecture, unique history and welcoming atmosphere, Chester is not only loved by locals, it’s one of the UK’s most popular cities for a memorable day out or a short break. There’s so much to see and do within the city walls but if you want to avoid the busier spots, head over the suspension bridge and walk down the south side of the River Dee to the Meadows. It’s a touch more tranquil and very popular with wildlife lovers and dog walkers.
