Visit Website

We certainly weren’t expecting to find a little slice of the US Midwest in a woodland setting in rural Cornwall, yet that’s exactly what you’ll discover on a visit to Inkie’s Smokehouse. This award-winning BBQ joint prides itself on proper smoked food, authentic BBQ and cooked low ‘n’ slow meats for a minimum of 16 hours. It’s fully deserving of its ever-growing popularity.

Good to know

Overview

All of the meat at Inkie’s Smokehouse is free-range and of local provenance and if you love meat, then this is definitely the place for you (though vegetarians are catered for too). Visit in the mornings to indulge in a menu of waffles, pancakes and breakfast platters, including their own home-cured bacon.

Alternatively, the full Inkie’s menu is available from midday and it’s positively mouth-watering. Choose from a selection of hot dogs and smoked meats in baps, wraps, burgers and po’ boys. Then personalise with your pick of one of their four homemade sauces for an ultimate BBQ feast. The sauces are so good, the team at Inkie’s have made them available to buy by popular demand and you’ll see them in a range of farm shops around Cornwall.

Our top recommendation is the Philly cheese brisket washed down with one of their legendary milkshakes, but whatever you settle on, you’ll certainly want to wear your stretchy trousers here as the portion sizes are extremely generous.

Understandably, this is an incredibly popular spot so do be prepared to queue to order your food. We promise, it’s worth it.

For The Dogs

There are water bowls for thirsty pups.

The Area

A few miles away, perched on Bodmin Moor, lies one of the most iconic sites in Cornwall: the Cheesewring. Seven slabs of rock make up the thirty-two foot high Cheesewring, with the smallest and lightest rocks at the bottom, and the thickest and heaviest at the top. On a clear day, the views over Cornwall and Devon from the top are spectacular. Follow the circular walk from Minions taking in the Cheesewring and the Hurlers for a lovely morning out.
