Good to know

Overview

Wetherlam View is a lovingly renovated retreat that pairs high-end design with the rugged soul of the Lake District. Once the home of the landlord for the historic Three Shires Inn, the property has been transformed into a stylish, chalet-style sanctuary where every window frames a masterpiece of Lakeland scenery.

The heart of the home is the open plan living area, where a massive exposed beam and a contemporary ribbon fireplace create a warm, inviting hub. However, it’s the floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors that truly steal the show, blurring the line between the plush interior and the private balcony overlooking the Tilberthwaite Valley.

For the culinary enthusiasts, the sleek kitchen and dining area also feature bi-fold doors that open directly onto the south-facing terrace. If you’d rather take the night off, you have the ultimate ‘local’ right next door: the award-winning Three Shires Inn.

Downstairs, the house reveals its playful side. The entertainment space features a huge smart TV for epic movie nights, while the sauna offers the perfect post-hike detox. There’s even a professional dog wash and a bespoke ‘dog hotel’ underfloor hideaway, ensuring your four-legged family members are treated to a five-star experience.

The sleeping arrangements are equally luxurious, with three beautifully appointed bedrooms in the main house (two of which are ensuite) and a separate, stylish annex. This flexible setup makes Wetherlam View an ideal choice for multi-generational families or groups of friends seeking a little extra privacy.

Outside, the patio and balcony provide a front row seat to the fells. While the dogs enjoy the fresh mountain air, you can relax and soak in the peace of Little Langdale, knowing that some of the National Park’s most iconic walks are right on your doorstep.

For The Dogs

Two dogs are invited to join you at Wetherlam View. Should you wish to bring more, the owners are generally happy to accommodate, but please check with them in advance of your stay.

Your four-legged friends are truly catered for with a professional indoor dog wash station and dryer, as well as a bespoke ‘dog hotel’ – a dedicated underfloor hideaway with subtle lighting and comfortable bedding.

You will also find bowls, towels, treats and poop bags provided to make your arrival easy, though you are welcome to bring any familiar blankets to help them settle into their stylish new surroundings.

Price

Prices range from £1,125 – £2,250 per week for the main house. The annex is only available as a combined booking, at an additional cost of between £250 – £350 per week, depending on the time of the year.

The Area

Staying in Little Langdale feels like stepping into a secret pocket of the National Park. It’s a place where the morning mist clings to the surface of the tarn, and the only traffic jam you’ll encounter is a flock of Herdwick sheep crossing a winding lane. From your doorstep, you can trade the world for the wild by crossing the 17th century slate slabs of Slater’s Bridge, exploring the echoing cathedral-like chambers of hidden quarries, or following the Witcher filming trails around the mirrored waters of Blea Tarn.
