Visit Website

More like a boutique holiday cottage as opposed to a simple hut, Well Furlong Shepherds Retreat offers 50 square metres of luxury living in the midst of the dreamy Cotswold countryside. Located in the beautiful village of Little Comberton with its honey coloured houses, a handsome church and rolling landscape, this unique retreat is nestled in 90 acres of private land meaning dog walks aplenty right from the doorstep.

For dogs...

If you prefer to travel light, dog beds, bowls and towels can be provided. Just let the owners know in advance so that they can have them ready for you when you arrive.

Surrounded by 90 acres of private grounds with footpaths linking to local walks, energetic dogs have plenty of space to explore and let off steam.

For humans...

The hot tub is a delight at any time of day, but there’s something so special about a twilight dip with a glass of champagne.

The bunk beds are actually two double so if you have children who don’t mind sharing, there’s the potential to squeeze four in all together.

Overview

Made from two large shepherds huts combined to form an L shape, this stylish hideaway offers a lot more space and comfort than you’d initially expect. With one super king bed that can also be made up as a twin, and a hidden room with a cosy double bunk bed in, it’s ideal for a couple, a group of up to four friends, or a family made up of two adults and four small children (who don’t mind sharing a bunk).

The retreat is well equipped with a large open plan kitchen with a choice of breakfast bar and dining table to sit at. The sitting room area has two sofas for you to sink into and a Hobbit stove for colder evenings. With great WiFi and a smart TV, if the glorious outside space doesn’t tempt you to spend your evenings al fresco, you can snuggle up in front of a film or your favourite show.

Outside, there’s a large south facing decked area with a sunken jacuzzi, sun loungers, a table and chairs, and a large parasol to recline (and snooze) under on sunny afternoons. The two sets of wide steps lead you down to a more formal garden area with a fire pit, so bring marshmallows!

For The Dogs

One four-legged friend is invited to join you at Well Furlong Cottage – two with prior agreement from the owners – completely free of charge.

While there might not be an enclosed garden for your pup to explore, there are 90 acres of private grounds to sniff around. Perhaps bring a tether for canine companions that are at risk of bolting.

Dog beds, bowls, towels and leads can be loaned for the duration of your stay.

Price

From £200 per night with no additional charges for accompanying dogs.

The Area

Little Comberton sits on the north side of Bredon Hill where there are some lovely walks through the network of footpaths. Take a dog walk to the summit to discover the Iron Age hillfort that dates back to before the 1st century A.D. At 299 metres, it also offers spectacular views over the surrounding countryside.
