Visit Website

A Grade II listed granary, lovingly converted into a luxury holiday cottage for four, tucked into the quiet hamlet of Wheatcroft in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Three king size bedrooms, views over four counties and an outdoor rolltop bath under the stars. It's the kind of place that makes a long weekend feel like a proper reset. Approached through electric gates down a quiet country lane, with rose-clad walls and herbaceous gardens greeting you on arrival, this is countryside living done properly.

For dogs...

Two dogs are welcome at £10 per dog per night. The patio adjacent to the barn is enclosed, dogs get a full welcome kit on arrival (treats, bowls, towels, poop bags and blankets), and a dog friendly pub is less than a mile away on quiet country lanes.

One thing to know: dogs must be kept on leads around the driveways. Free-range chickens roam the orchard and a public footpath runs through the property.

Dogs are welcome throughout the ground floor but not upstairs, and must not be left unattended.

For humans...

A VisitEngland 5 Star Gold cottage with three king size bedrooms. Chilled prosecco, homemade Victoria sponge, fresh sourdough, orange juice, milk local butter, free range eggs and chocolates await your arrival. This is holiday perfection.

Outside, the rolltop bath has breathtaking views across four counties. There’s a fire pit, a Weber BBQ, outdoor dining and open countryside beyond the garden. You won’t want to leave.

The Old Granary is also one of two properties at Beech Farm. The Cabin is a romantic one-bedroom retreat for couples (one small dog welcome) on the same site.

Overview

The Old Granary is a Grade II listed, three-bedroom holiday cottage set within Beech Farm in the hamlet of Wheatcroft, near Matlock. It sits in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Peak District and holds a VisitEngland 5 Star Gold award. It sleeps four adults across three king size bedrooms and is well set up for families and couples travelling together.

Inside, everything has been carefully thought through. Beds are dressed in crisp cotton sheets with feather toppers, with bath robes, slippers and White Company towels, the hand-built kitchen has a range-style electric cooker, coffee machine and two fridges, and the open plan living space has a cosy fireplace and a 50″ Smart TV. Heated floors on the ground floor are a particularly welcome touch after a muddy walk.

The ultimate welcome hamper awaits you on arrival with chilled Prosecco, homemade Victoria sponge, fresh sourdough, local butter, free range eggs, chocolates and fresh orange juice.

Outside, the rolltop bath sits perfectly positioned to take in sweeping views across four counties. There’s a fire pit and lounge seating area, a Weber BBQ, outdoor dining and gardens that blend seamlessly into open countryside beyond.

The cottage sits within private, gated grounds with an enclosed patio for pups. A public footpath runs through the property and free-range chickens live in the adjoining orchard, so the rural setting is authentic rather than curated.
