The Old Chapel

The Old Chapel is a converted 19th-century chapel set in the quiet hamlet of Wheatcroft, near Matlock, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of the Peak District. It sleeps two adults and is designed specifically for couples. The building retains its original character throughout, with thick stone walls, exposed beams, feature windows and high ceilings that flood the space with natural light.

On the ground floor you’ll find a boot room with coat hooks and a downstairs WC, a bright kitchen and dining space with everything you need for home cooked meals, and a living room centred around a genuine wood burning stove. The 50″ Smart TV, board games, books and bespoke furnishings make it as good a destination as anywhere on a rainy afternoon.

A spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom with a king size bed, twinkling lights, en suite shower room with Plum and Ashby toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, and open views over the Derbyshire Dales.

Outside, the enclosed paved terrace has a table and chairs, a BBQ and panoramic countryside views that face east for sunrise. Footpaths start directly from the property for daily dog walks without needing to get in the car.

A welcome hamper of chilled fizz, milk, eggs, chocolates and freshly baked sweet treats will be waiting on arrival.

One dog is welcome at The Old Chapel for a small fee of £10 per night. Dog bowls, towels, treats and a lead loan are provided.

Footpaths start from the doorstep for walks straight from the cottage.

Parking

One vehicle on site. EV charger available.

Please keep your dog on a lead around the immediate area. Free-range chickens roam nearby. Dogs must not be left unattended.

Please take care on the spiral staircase to the bedroom.
