The Coach House at Mount Pleasant Barns

The Coach House is a three-bedroom barn conversion on the Mount Pleasant Barns estate, a private working farm in the Warwickshire countryside near Walton. Inside, the open-plan living space has real character – vaulted beamed ceilings, exposed brickwork, a copper-backed kitchen island with bar stools, and Vivienne Westwood chandeliers that catch the light in a way that makes you look twice. There’s a record player with a vinyl collection for evenings in, and a built-in desk nook if you need to get a bit of work done (or just want somewhere to plan tomorrow’s walk). The ground floor king bedroom has a roll-top bath in teal tiles and a walk-in shower, while upstairs there’s a second king under the eaves with a skylight, and a twin room with fun flamingo cushions that children will fight over.

Outside is where The Coach House really earns its keep. The enclosed garden is fully fenced and wired, designed so that even the smallest dog can’t find a way out, and the outdoor kitchen under the pergola – with BBQ, pizza oven and fairy lights overhead – means you can spend entire evenings out there without anyone having to come inside. The wood-fired hot tub seats eight and looks out over the Warwickshire countryside, and there’s a large grassed area in front of the barn for throwing a ball or just letting your dog burn off some energy. Julia’s own dogs – Dixie and Lottie the German Shorthaired Pointers, and Dirty Bertie the Sealyham Terrier – are often around the estate, and it’s clear from the moment you arrive that dogs are part of the fabric of the place.

With three bedrooms sleeping six, The Coach House works beautifully for families, friends and multi-generational groups who don’t want to leave the dog behind. Travelling as a couple? The Shooting Lodge next door sleeps two and shares the same beautiful estate.

Perfect for: Pizza oven evenings, countryside mornings, and a dog who thinks the whole garden is theirs.

Up to two dogs are welcome at The Coach House, charged at £30 per dog per stay (not per night). The enclosed garden is fully fenced and wired so even the smallest dogs can roam freely and safely off-lead. Dog bowls, treats and a loan lead are provided, and furniture throws are available to protect the soft furnishings – your dog is welcome on the sofa. You’ll need to bring your own dog bed.

A warm water dog wash station is available on the estate for post-walk clean-ups, and with Warwickshire mud being what it is, you’ll appreciate it.

Julia’s own German Shorthaired Pointers (Dixie and Lottie) and Sealyham Terrier (Dirty Bertie) live on the estate, so this is a home that genuinely understands dogs.
