Bridge Street, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE61 1NB
Visit WebsiteA warm and welcoming atmosphere and stylish surroundings await you and your pooch at Pleased to Meet You in Morpeth. The impressive building is divided into three sections – a restaurant, a bar and Emily’s Tearoom – with designated dog friendly areas in each. Expect great food, a fabulous selection of drinks and happy hounds.
Overview
The roomy restaurant serves some of the best cuisine Northumberland has to offer, using locally-sourced ingredients from trusted suppliers. The steaks are a particular hit with diners but cast your eye over the sharing platters … they’re on the more expensive side but heavenly in taste. If you have a penchant for botanicals, leave room for the PTMY gin salted caramel cheesecake.
The bar at Pleased To Meet You is located on the ground floor of the historical site and dates back to the 17th century. There’s a wide range of cocktails, gins and unmissable ales on tap but best to visit during the week as the live DJ on the weekend may prove a touch loud for furry ears. If you’re not sure which tipple to opt for, try the signature Please to Meet You cocktail.
Named after the famous Emily Davison who was laid to rest in Morpeth town centre, Emily’s Tearoom features freshly baked goods made in-house daily. The scones, cakes and sandwiches are not to be missed. Sit at one of the comfy sofas or next to the roaring fire … it’s a prime snoozing spot for canine companions.

Dog owners are spoiled for choice in Northumberland. The charming towns of Rothbury and Alnwick have plenty of dog friendly shops and cafés, and if you head to Alnwick, make sure to stop at the dog friendly Barter Books, one of the most enormous second hand books shops in the country. Alternatively, the National Trust’s spectacular mansion of Cragside, where dogs are welcome in the gardens and along the miles of way marked trails – we’d recommend the Gun Walk which, while one of the more challenging routes, offers great views and off lead opportunities.
