Good to know

Overview

A traditional brick cottage from the outside, the interior of Old Bell Barn is wonderfully modern. We particularly love the large, open plan living, kitchen and dining room with its vaulted ceiling and light flooding in from the Velux windows running the length of the roofline. It’s a fantastic space for relaxing in of an evening with a smart television with Freesat and Netflix, as well as a Bluetooth soundbar/speaker for you to play music on. Canine companions will love keeping you company next to the cosy wood burner.

The contemporary kitchen is well equipped, and you can choose to drink and dine at the ‘bar’ or in the dining area at the large wooden table. Basics such as milk, tea, coffee, sugar, oil and seasonings are provided. Most major supermarkets deliver to the barn should you wish to organise a shop, or you can pick up supplies from the nearby market town of Fakenham.

Old Bell Barn has two gorgeous bedrooms, sleeping four humans in total. Both rooms have king size beds with soft 100% cotton Bedfolk bedlinen. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor and the other on the first – the staircase is in the room and the door is located at the bottom of the stairs. Vinyl-lovers will want to stay upstairs and take advantage of the record player and the selection of vintage records.

Outside, the garden offers a private and safe space for guests and their furry friends. It’s the ideal place to enjoy your morning cuppa while your dog stretches their legs, or to sip on a glass of wine after a day spent exploring Norfolk. There’s also a picnic bench and seating for al fresco dining on warmer evenings, as well as a charcoal BBQ for grill-lovers.

The Area

Set in the heart of the Norfolk, Old Bell Barn is well placed to make the most of the renowned Norfolk coast, beautiful Broads and quirky lanes of Norwich. The barn is surrounded by farm land with plenty of country walks on the doorstep, but also a short drive from the area’s best beaches. Sea dogs will love a trip to Wells-next-the-Sea. While popular, the beach itself never feels overly crowded. It’s a 30-minute drive to the Sandringham Estate, home to one of the Queen’s favourite rural retreats, Sandringham House. The surrounding 243-hectare country park is open to the public everyday free of charge and dogs are welcome.
