Visit Website

Mill Meadow is a gated destination offering a unique selection of seven luxury eco lodges nestled in lush countryside at the foot of the Quantock Hills. The picture perfect landscape provides a stunning backdrop to your dog friendly stay in the heart of rural Somerset, yet you're a bone's throw from the bustling town of Taunton.

For dogs...

Owners of Mill Meadow, the Heayns family, love dogs. If you’d like to bring more than two dogs, do get in touch with them to discuss it – or with any other pooch-related questions.

Bowls, towels, throws and a treat or two will be waiting for four-legged friends to make them feel at home – and save on packing.

The Spinney, an area owned by The Woodland Trust, is a short walk away and a great place to exercise your dog off lead.

For humans...

With seven different lodges of varying sizes to choose from, Mill Meadow is perfect for multi-generational families or groups of friends who want to holiday together but still have their own space to retreat to at the end of each day.

Come rain or come shine, you have to hang out in the hot tub. Each lodge has its own decadent bubbling tub of joy. Heaven!

Enjoy your first coffee of the day by the beautiful fishing lake. It’s such a tranquil spot to take a moment or two for yourself.

Good to know

Overview

Sleeping between two and ten humans and welcoming two dogs in each of the individual properties (with the exception of Heron Lodge which is pet free), this rural retreat can accommodate multiple guests and families across the seven homes.

The lodges are beautifully decorated and feature everything you need for a relaxing self-catering holiday. Whether you choose to cook up a storm in the modern kitchen or light up the BBQ, snuggle up in front of the TV or relax in your private hot tub, it’s the perfect place to spend time with loved ones … four-legged friends included!

Outside, every Mill Meadow lodge is designed to maintain the diversity of wildlife with at least one bird and one bat box, while all landscaped areas are carefully managed to ensure that a range of flora and fauna can thrive.

Don’t leave this idyllic hideaway without taking some time out to sit by the tranquil fishing lake. It’s the nicest place to relax and unwind after a busy day spent exploring the many pastures and woodlands of the Quantock Hills and the surrounding area.

For The Dogs

On arrival at your lodge, you’ll find dog bowls, towels and throws waiting for you. In addition, dog sitting and dog walking services are available should you need them; simply talk to the Mill Meadow team in advance and let them know your requirements.

Dogs must be kept on their lead when outside of your lodge but The Spinney, an area owned and managed by The Woodland Trust, is a short walk away and a great place to exercise your dog off lead.

Mill Meadow will consider allowing more pooches per lodge. This must be agreed in advance.

Practicalities

Arrival & departure

Check out time: 10am

Parking

There is private parking at each lodge and an electric car charging point for guests to use.

Special Instructions

Please keep four-legged friends downstairs and off the furniture, and do not leave your dog alone in your lodge.

Mill Meadow is largely open plan without fenced off gardens, so canine companions must be kept under full control whilst onsite.

However, Goldcrest Lodge has a fenced-in garden area so is the perfect pad for pooches who need a little more security.

The Area

Mill Meadow is located at the foot of the Quantock Hills, England’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, designated in 1956. The various routes make for wonderful dog walks with views of the Bristol Channel, Wales, the Mendip and Blackdown Hills, Exmoor and the Somerset Levels. Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived in the Quantocks for some time and took inspiration from their beauty for some of his finest poems.
