Overview

Mackie Mayor is the perfect place for a dog friendly breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, with a number of delicious eateries situated under the amazing glass roof.

Built in 1858, Mackie Mayor was originally part of the famous Smithfield Market that closed in 1972. After years of lying empty, it’s since been redesigned, refurbed and re-instated to its former glory and is now part of the Northern Quarter’s thriving food scene and can host up to 500 people.

Either grab a seat at one of the communal tables or head upstairs to the mezzanine area to watch the hustle and bustle below while deciding what you want to eat and drink. Home to some of the best independent food and drink retailers in the city, you’re spoilt for choice. But if your four-legged friend is content to indulge in a little bit of pup watching, take your time and try them all.

For The Dogs

You’ll find water bowls dotted around the hall for thirsty pups.

The Area

While somewhat hidden, there are some lovely green spaces in central Manchester. Head to Angel Meadow, a five minute walk away from Mackie Mayor, to escape the crowds for a while. Walk through the archway and enjoy the landscaped gardens. It does have quite the gruesome past though, in complete contrast to its heavenly-sounding name.
