Overview

Begin your adventure with a stroll along Llandudno promenade, where your dog can stretch their legs and enjoy the sea breeze while you admire the views over the Irish Sea.

For a heartier walking experience, head to Great Orme Country Park, which features winding trails through scenic woodlands and panoramic views overlooking the town from the Summit Complex.

To get to the top of the Great Orme, you can either hike, take the tram or drive. The Marine Drive is a four-mile scenic route around the base of the Great Orme headland, from North Shore to West Shore. While a toll road, it’s not expensive and includes parking on the Orme and at the summit.

Alternatively, if your pup has a head for heights, you can even take a cable car ride. It’s the longest passenger cable car system in Britain and will whisk you and your dog up the 679 feet.

As the day progresses, visit one of Llandudno’s dog friendly beaches. West Shore is our favourite, and often quieter than the more visited North Shore. Both beaches provide opportunities aplenty for a game of frisbee or a doggy paddle, if you don’t mind braving the cold waters. Some restrictions apply during the summer months.

When it comes to dog friendly dining in Llandudno, we have two favourites. The welcome is always warm at Dudley & George’s, the cutest coffee shop and general store. Dogs are also guaranteed a fuss and a from the canine-loving team at Providero, where there’s plenty of space inside for even the largest of dogs.

For The Dogs

Bring leads, treats and poop bags – many shops have water bowls by the door. Pack a towel if you have a water-loving pooch and plan to head to the beach.

The Area

From long stretches of sandy beaches to idyllic countryside, stunning landscapes, and not forgetting more than the odd climb or two, North Wales has it all. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite dog walks in North Wales, including lesser known routes alongside more popular ones. While they might be busier in peak season, we still think they’re not to be missed!
