Previously a working 16th century farm, it’s now home to luxury barns, shepherd huts and cottages, as well as an onsite spa, outdoor hot tub, and the triple-height Great Barn restaurant.
For dogs...
Dogs are much-loved guests at Retreat East and the majority of the hideaways are dog friendly, welcoming two pooches in most barns and one furry friend in the shepherd huts.
A bed, bowls and a treat or two will be waiting for four-legged friends to make them feel at home – and save on packing.
For humans...
Come rain or come shine, you have to hang out in the hot tub and take in the peaceful surroundings of the countryside.
The little extras such as organic toiletries and fluffy dressing gowns and slippers are a lovely touch to make your stay extra special.

Overview
Sleeping between two and eight humans, the stunning collection of retreats all have their own unique features. From beamed ceilings to decadent freestanding tubs, cloud-like beds and cosy outdoor spaces, whichever you choose, you’ll feel warmly welcomed and thoroughly charmed.
Our personal favourites are The Elements Barns with their outdoor bath tubs – The Coop, The Nest, The Lodge, The Drey and The Rookery. They don’t have full kitchens but why would you want to cook when you could be soaking your stresses away?
While you’re staying at Retreat East, lunch or dinner at the Great Barn is a must. Serving simple, seasonal, healthy dishes featuring ingredients from the kitchen garden or sourced locally, the menu is a joy while the barn itself has a magically relaxing ambience.
Once you’ve finished eating, treat yourself to a post-dinner drink on one of the cosy sofas next to the fire. There’s also a pool table in the bar area and a selection of board games for extra entertainment.
If one of your party doesn’t mind dog-sitting, take yourself off to the spa. There is a gym on one side and a sauna and steam room on the other. The treatment rooms will tempt you to book yourself in for a heavenly massage but if bubbles are more your thing, the hot tub is the place to head. It truly is the paw-fect place to switch off.
For The Dogs
Two pets per barn and one dog per shepherd hut are welcome to join you at Retreat East for an additional charge of £25 per dog per stay. A dog bed, dog bowls and treats are provided for accompanying pooches.
Please note, The Little Warren, The Little Sett, The Sett, Little Burrow & The Little Hive are not pet friendly.

Parking
During the summer, no cars are allowed on the site, but there is a complimentary car park at the entrance to Retreat East.

Dogs must be kept on their leads within the communal areas and around other guests.
The Area
Located in the heart of Suffolk and surrounded by countryside, there are walks galore right on the doorstep of Retreat East. Pick up a map from the front desk when you arrive and choose your favourite route. Stroll through the fields to the local village of Coddenham. It’s perfect for picking up supplies or treating yourself to a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the community shop. Woodbridge is a lovely little market town around 25 minutes from Retreat East. It’s well worth visiting to explore the quaint streets with your furry friend. Enjoy a coffee on the quayside and admire the colourful sailing boats before strolling along the riverside paths.
