Dowdeswell Park, London Road, Charlton Kings, Cheltenham, GL52 6UT
Visit WebsiteA seriously cool set-up on the outskirts of Cheltenham, Dunkerton’s Tap Room is a must-visit if you’re in the area, showcasing the very best of Cotswolds suppliers. It has become a bit of a local institution and a firm favourite with dog owners popping in before or after their weekend walks. You’ll rarely see a table without a dog tucked underneath or snuggled up on their owner’s lap in an armchair.
Overview
The farm shop alone at Dunkerton’s is worth a visit. La Boulangerie Artisan have all your bakery needs covered, and there’s produce from Daylesford Organic, a huge cheese counter, deli counters, the very best Cotswold meats from Waghorne’s Butchers and of course, a vast array of Dunkerton’s cider. It really is difficult to resist filling up a basket of goodies to take home with you.
Out in the enormous marquee bar, if you don’t manage to grab a spot by one of the wood burners, help yourself to a blanket and settle in to one of the many sheepskin-covered armchairs dotted around. If you’d rather sit outside in the fresh air, cosy up around one of the fire pits with a mulled cider – trust us, it’s delicious.
One thing is for sure, you certainly won’t go hungry at Dunkerton’s. It’s all about the food here, home to some of the very best pop-ups in Cheltenham. Take your pick from The Woozy Pig and their legendary burgers, Bella Mia for delicious sourdough pizzas or Bombay Street Food Co for authentic Indian street food dishes.

Parking
There is a large car park at the front of Dunkerton’s Tap Room.
Make a day of it and combine a dog walk with your visit. Stroll down to Dowdeswell Reservoir and let your dog run free around the woods. Or pick up the Cotswold Way which runs right past Dunkerton’s for a longer jaunt. Just over the road, Lineover Wood’s patchwork of ancient woodland and miles of footpaths are a popular option amongst locals for a dog walk. Follow the Cotswold Way up the very steep hill to Wistley Hill Nature Reserve and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views across Cheltenham and the Malvern Hills.
