Staycation in style at this beautifully converted cowshed tucked away in a hidden valley within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. With two lovely bedrooms, this dog friendly retreat is perfect for families, but its tranquil location and luxury amenities make it ideal for a couple’s getaway.

For dogs...

Two dogs are welcome to join you at Cosy Cowshed for a small fee of £25 per stay.

Pooches will arrive to water bowls, treats, toys, blankets, a bed, a doggy first aid kit and shampoo.

The cowshed overlooks the large, secure garden. It means that your pup has plenty of space to safely explore while you cook, watch a show, or simply relax with your feet up.

For humans...

Fabulous for a family of four, the master bedroom has a super king size bed and the second bedroom room has two single beds.

We love the Victorian-inspired bathroom with its clawfoot tub and over-the-bath rainfall shower.

Spend time on the terrace and unwind on the day bed or relax in the hot tub overlooking the valley.

Overview

The welcoming open plan kitchen and living area that runs straight onto the roomy terrace forms the heart of Cosy Cowshed, and overlooks the large, secure garden. It means that your pup has plenty of space, both indoors and out, to safely explore while you cook, watch a show, or simply relax with your feet up.

The kitchen is compact but comprehensive, equipped with all the tools you need to rustle up something delicious. If you’d prefer to take in the rural views while you dine, pick up your plate and head to the terrace. There’s also a BBQ and Morso pizza oven. Pre-order a local food box or DIY pizza box from Sleepy Owl’s ‘extras‘ list and it will be waiting for you when you arrive.

Back inside the Cosy Cowshed, the living space has a large sofa to snuggle up on. Light the wood burning stove for extra cosiness, but the underfloor heating alone will keep toes and paws toasty. With plenty of board games, a selection of books and magazines for both adults and children, as well as a telescope and binoculars, you’ll definitely be able to unplug from ‘normal’ life for a while.

When it comes to bedtime, there is a large master bedroom that opens out onto the terrace. However, if you’d prefer to sit back and chill, make use of the cinema projector in the room and relax and watch your favourite film. For children, there is a twin room that features magical canopies for them to sleep beneath.

The Victorian-inspired bathroom at the Cosy Cowshed has an impressive clawfoot bath so you can soak away the day in style. Luxurious towels and complimentary toiletries, along with robes and slippers, complete the spa experience.

Come rain or come shine, you’ll want to make the most of the covered terrace. Unwind on the day bed or head to the hot tub for a relaxing dip. Looking across the lush valley, there’s nowhere else you’d rather be.
