Overview

The hub of the cabin is the light-filled, open plan living space. With floor to ceiling windows right up to the vaulted roof, the views over the farmland beyond are quite something. The sitting area has a cosy linen sofa where you can snuggle up with your pup in front of the fire and watch a film or two on the smart TV. Here are a few that were filmed in Wales, if you’re looking for a little bit of local inspiration.

Alternatively, open the balcony doors and relax outside. With a gorgeous sunken hot tub, whether you choose to start your day with a dip or save it for a spot of bubbly stargazing later in the evening, there’s no better way to switch off and enjoy this secluded spot.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to rustle up your favourite meals. There’s a fan oven, hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and a handy boiling water tap. If you’re up for a kitchen disco, there’s also a cute Robert’s Radio to play your favourite tunes on. Breakfast hampers and grazing platters are available upon request, if you really want to take it easy.

When it comes to dining, there is a sweet round table for romantic meals à deux. Or, when the weather’s good, move your meal outside and eat on the balcony. There’s a table and chairs and even a gas BBQ.

The dark walls in the bedroom make it feel like a cocoon. Luxurious lie-ins are guaranteed. The king size bed is positively cloud-like, and the roomy tub is a decadent addition – and perfect for lazy soaks. If you need a touch more help to wake you up in the morning, the ensuite shower room has a large walk-in rainfall shower.

The Area

The local town of Llanfyllin is a 20-minute walk away from the Cabin Du. A picturesque market town, it’s worth strolling to, particularly on market day – currently the first Thursday of every month. You’ll also discover lots of lovely little pathways and places on your way. For a heartier day out, the Berwyn Mountains stretch all the way from Llangollen in the east, along the Dee Valley, to Bala in the west. Less popular than Snowdonia, it’s a range that’s relatively undiscovered so you can often walk for miles without seeing another human … or four-legged friend.
