We love Alty Market. With regular stalls offering everything from locally produced cheese to designer tableware, themed days and weekends (such as food and drink one weekend, vintage another), and live music providing an upbeat soundtrack to your shopping every Saturday and Sunday, it’s simply a great place to hang out.

Good to know

Overview

Our favourite place to take our pups at Alty Market has to be the Market House. It’s the centrepiece of the market with specialist food outlets clustered around communal tables. It does get really busy so if you spy a spare table, grab it. There’s no guarantee that it will still be free a second later.

Take your pick from wood-fired pizza, delicious steaks, burgers, tacos, salads and seasonal sensations from the Great North Pie Co. Wash it down with a craft beer, glass of wine or an espresso from Market House Coffee before choosing a handmade chocolate or two from Sam Joseph.

You’ll always spot a dog or two resting happily at their owners feet nibbling the odd morsel that makes its way from plate to paws. If your pup is a playful one, perhaps avoid busier hours and go for breakfast or brunch rather than lunch or dinner or pop to the B&V pet stall to stock up on dog treats before you sit down.

The Area

Three miles from Altrincham, you’ll find Dunham Massey. With over 300 acres of beautiful ancient parkland to explore, it’s ideal for walking off your Alty Market lunch. Dogs are allowed in the gardens and deer park if kept on a short lead. There’s also an area when they can pad along off lead too should your four-legged friend prefer a bit more freedom. Canine companions aren’t allowed in the restaurant or cafés but can rest tired paws on the terrace where you’ll find water bowls for post-walk drinks.
