Overview
Aline Community Woodland is a stunning natural retreat on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland’s Outer Hebrides. Just 15 miles from Tarbert, this 22-hectare woodland is a haven for wildlife, home to an array of bird species, including birds of prey, as well as rabbits, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer.
Established in 2006, the woodland was created to regenerate native forest ecosystems and provide an inviting space for the local community, as well as visitors and their four-legged friends.
Its peaceful, scenic trails cater to all fitness levels, making it a perfect destination for dog walks or a relaxing escape into nature. Starting at the free car park conveniently located off the A859, the trails are mostly flat with a few gentle gradients … ideal for a stroll with your pup. Along the paths, you’ll find benches to rest and take in the breathtaking surroundings.
The main trail, approximately 2 miles long, offers plenty of opportunities to soak up the woodland’s beauty at a leisurely pace. Whether you’re here for the wildlife, the tranquility, or a dog friendly adventure, Aline Community Woodland is a must-visit destination.

Bring leads, poop bags and a tick hook. Keep dogs under close control, and remember to respect the natural environment during your visit. Stay on designated trails and avoid disturbing wildlife.
