Good to know

Overview

One thing that makes The Stone Trough Inn extra special is the new super modern glass conservatory dining area. It means that you can enjoy your meal while taking in the beautiful views of the rolling hills. On warmer days, they draw back the roof and open up the windows so you almost feel like you’re abroad sitting on a sun terrace. For those of you who prefer the fresh air, there’s also additional benches on the grass outside.

The food menu includes a great selection of meals made from locally sourced produce. The pub caters for all appetites and includes vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. We recommend the NOT fish and chips for a vegetarian take on the traditional dish – it’s amazing!

The pub is well known in the area for being really dog friendly and is popular with both locals and walkers visiting the area. What’s more, The Stone Trough Inn also caters for private functions such as weddings and parties – so there’s no reason to not include the dog in your special plans.

For The Dogs

The staff are extremely friendly at The Stone Trough Inn and go out of their way to make you and your dog feel welcome.

Outside, you’ll find a ‘doggy bar’ where four-legged friends can quench their thirst from the help-yourself water barrel – don’t worry, there’s plenty of beer on offer for the humans inside!

Dogs are allowed in the bar area and on the terrace and there’s even a dog treat jar for them to sniff out.

Opening Hours

There is a large car park to the side of the pub.

The Area

A stone’s throw from the The Stone Trough Inn is the picturesque village of Kirkham, home to the English Heritage site, Kirkham Priory. The priory ruins welcomes dogs on leads, and you can learn all about the secret visit of Winston Churchill during the Second World War and unlock the connection between Helmsley Castle (just 30 minutes away) and the priory. There is also a beautiful walk along the edge of the River Derwent which is just a short stroll down the hill from the pub.
