Overview
While you’re debating which one to take home with you, pull up a seat and order a portion – warm with custard, obviously – along with a freshly made Ovenbird Coffee Roasters flat white or tea. Some decisions are not to be rushed, right? We’d also recommend trying one of the delicious, freshly made scones while you’re thinking. There’s a savoury lunch menu available at weekends too.
If you haven’t tried a Clootie dumpling before, the staff are full of recommendations for how they’re best served, from fried to flambéed. The online shop will give you a hint of the vast array of flavours these perfect dumplings come in. And do keep an eye on Clootie McToot’s instagram account for seasonal specials.

There are water bowls and wee doggy treats – as well as a warm welcome – for furry friends so don’t worry about them missing out when you visit.

If you’re looking for somewhere to stretch your legs after your visit to Clootie McToot Dumplings, we recommend the short circular route around the local glen. Ask the staff to point you in the direction of Abernethy Glen for a three mile walk that takes you down through the Dell of Abernethy and then up Castle Law for incredible views over the village and beyond. Look out for Witches Hole, a small cave on the north side of Castle Law. It’s supposed to have been the residence of the Witches of Abernethy. Spooky!
