Good to know

Overview

Combining crystal clear waters and nearly a mile of immaculate sand, the beach at Sennen Cove is popular with families, surfers and dog walkers. In the summer months there’s a seasonal dog ban between the hours of 10am and 6pm, so arrive early or late if visiting during the holiday season.

Our favourite time to visit though is in winter, when the crowds have disappeared and the winter wind can blow away the cobwebs. Although, you will find plenty of people turning up for the annual Christmas Day dip!

When you’re finished at the beach, take a walk along the South West Coast Path. Land’s End, England’s most South-Westerly point, is a scenic coastal stroll of just over a mile away.

You might come across the semi-wild ponies who graze on the cliffs here – they’re very used to people, but it’s best to keep a safe distance with your dog on a lead if you do meet them.

For The Dogs

Bring leads, poop bags, water and towels.

Opening Hours

Daylight recommended, check tide times online.

Parking

Use the pay and display car parks in Sennen Cove: TR19 7DG (beach) and TR19 7DB (harbour).

The Area

West Cornwall is the very end of the line, where the cliffs at Land’s End plunge to meet the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. This is Poldark country, a land of sweeping beaches and tumbledown tin mines, where an outdoor adventurer (and their dog) could spend endless hours exploring. From clifftop panoramas to ancient villages, there’s a walk to suit every occasion.
