We love this dreamy cottage set in a 17th century Grade II listed farm courtyard on the Dillington Estate in rural Somerset. With its thatched roof, stone floors, ancient oak beams and wood burning stove, it's a holiday home brimming with traditional charm. And with pretty country lanes and woodland walks to discover right from the doorstep, it's paw-fectly pooch friendly too.

For dogs...

The wood burning stove set into the large stone fireplace offers the ultimate snoozing spot for tired pups.

With rural walks on the doorstep and dog friendly pubs within easy reach, countryside-loving canines will spend the break looking longingly at their leads.

While not fully enclosed, the garden has a lovely lawned area for dogs to stretch their legs and watch the local wildlife.

For humans...

THE bath! Enjoy a dip in the heavenly freestanding roll top bath. It’s a must.

There’s something so special about hunkering down on cool evenings next to the cosy wood burning stove with a mug of hot chocolate.

More than four of you? The other half of the farmhouse is also available to rent as a separate four bed house.

Overview

Atherstone Stone Cottage is a delightful two-bedroom retreat nestled within the historic Dillington Estate. Boasting a picturesque thatched roof, stone floors, ancient oak beams, and a cosy wood burning stove, it’s a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern comfort.

The cottage has two ensuite bedrooms, each with deep mattresses, luxurious bedding, and plush bathrobes. The master bedroom features a king size bed and a spacious bathroom with an amazing roll top bath and walk-in shower. The second bedroom can be configured as super king size double or twin beds, and is accompanied by a modern wet room with heated stone tile floors.

The living area is spacious and inviting, with more than enough room for four people to relax and dine. The sitting room boasts comfortable sofas, a wood burning stove, and a 55” flatscreen TV with a Bluetooth soundbar for entertainment. The modern kitchen is well-equipped should you wish to stay in a rustle up delicious suppers while staying.

Outside, a lovely garden with outdoor seating and a charcoal BBQ provides a perfect spot for al fresco dining … or sniffing around.

Two dogs are invited to join you at Atherstone Farm Cottage. Please bring all your own doggy equipment – bed, bowls, blankets and toys – with you.

The Dillington Estate is a 3,000 acre working farm and country estate dotted with chocolate-box cottages and Grade II listed farms. Four-legged friends will love walking through the parklands and meandering along the footpaths that weave through the estate. Our top tip? Time your daily walk with the opening hours of the Lord Poulett Arms in Hinton Saint George. It’s the perfect place for a pick-me-up after a hearty stroll.
